On Friday, Saoirse Redmond, the winner of our Young Female Apprentice award, sponsored by The Learning Foundry, was so emotional following her win that she wasn’t able to read the speech she prepared – so we wanted to share it with you all now!
Congratulations Saoirse, we’re incredibly proud of you!
“I cannot believe I am standing here and I think that all the nominated people should be up here as well, because everyone deserves it.
I would like to thank all the staff at Abbot’s Lea that have supported me over the last six years, especially Mr McVerry, Mrs Hildrey, Pam and Claire Caddick, my coach. I would like to thank Amey in Speke for giving me the opportunity to do my one year placement and thank you to all my work colleagues, Becky, Marie, Lorraine, Liza and Steve.
Thank you Mum, Savannah, Oma and Grandad for being so supportive and encouraging me to do this internship. I think it is a great opportunity to show other Autistic people what can be achieved when you believe in yourself. Thank you to everyone that took the time to vote for me – this is life changing.”
