If you’re thinking of nominating someone for Merseyside Women of the Year Awards there are a few things to consider when planning and completing your entry that will give the person you are nominating the best chance of getting through the Judging process.
Here are some thoughts, which we hope you find useful:
FOLLOW THE ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS
The awards website includes full instructions on the ‘How to Nominate’ and you should also read the ‘Terms & Conditions’ of entry. Take note of the format your entry needs to be in, the word count and deadline date. Judges don’t take kindly to incorrect or late entries!
DON’T WORRY ABOUT THE CATEGORY
Please think carefully about the person you are nominating and don’t worry about what category they should be in, this is mostly sorted at the Judging process. If you are still unsure, give us a call as we’re happy to offer advice. Remember that you aren’t restricted to entering one category or nomination.
DUE DILIGENCE
Please be aware that if the nomination is in the business or entrepreneur category, thorough detail will be completed around the details of the limited company number and name, or if sole trader or partnership, details of their accountant to certify that their tax affairs are in order. Please make sure these necessary details are included in your nomination.
READ THE JUDGING CRITERIA
Please make sure to include as much detail as you can. This ensures your nominee has a great chance of the Judges understanding the fantastic impact your nominee is having on her environment. Our Judges can only mark you on what is included in your nomination form so make sure all important information is included. This leads on to the next point…
STICK WITHIN THE WORD LIMIT
Judges may mark entries down, or even disqualify them, if they exceed the stated word limit. Please ensure your answers are clear and succinct – don’t waffle! Judges love clear, concise entries – use bullet points to effectively illustrate points of your nomination.
EVIDENCE RESULTS
Judges love quantified results and want to see some proof of what they’ve achieved – include facts and figures, quotes from clients or the media and an image is important too.
GET THE JUDGES ATTENTION
Remember that Judges will be reading a large number of entries, so you need to make your entry memorable. Make sure your entry is passionate, tells an interesting story and is backed up with statistics and evidence.
TAKE YOUR TIME
Winning award entries take time and effort to write and perfect. Again we’d highly recommend you get someone to proof read your entry before you submit it.
GET APPROVAL
We really need to know that the person whom you are nominating are happy for you to do so. It would be devastating to spend days writing an entry and then have to withdraw it as they don’t like the attention. Please supply us with their contact details so as we can inform them if they get through to being our Finalist.
PICTURE PERFECT
Attach an image with your nomination form. This will be used in the event brochure and presentations should you be shortlisted. Please ensure your image is high resolution and in either JPEG, PNG, GIF or PDF format.
Being shortlisted for an award brings recognition and an opportunity to celebrate a great piece of work, a fantastic organisation, team or individual. It can motivate employees, promote your business to new customers, and act as an endorsement for your organisation. It can also help you to evaluate your work, compare yourself to competitors and even identify areas for improvement.
All our finalists receive an award to help them shout about their success and have the opportunity to attend a major awards ceremony, even better they might even win!
If you have any queries at all, please contact us.
GOOD LUCK!
