Team 1C is bringing back its online advent calendar for 2024, to raise money for Zoe’s Place.
The charity, led by MWOTY 2023 “Inspirational Women” category winner, Claire Cathcart, runs an online advent calendar each year, where it opens a new “window” each day on its social media channels, revealing one of the children supported by Team 1C and asking people to donate via its Just Giving page.
Speaking of the campaign, Claire said: “We know that the hospice reached its fundraising target to allow it to continue, but they will always need support. We donated £1,000 to the appeal at the start and we want to continue our support as we know more than most just how vital their service is to families
Team 1C is a charity dedicated to children born with congenital heart defects. Her oldest child, Jake, was born in 2015 with a very rare heart condition and has spent much of his life in hospital with Claire at his side.
She decided to turn this situation into a positive by helping others. She created Team 1C (named after ward 1C) with her friends from the hospital and created a community. Initially fundraising more than £100,000 for a range of charities, she has since registered Team 1C as a charity in its own right, expanding to offer support to families both here in the North West and in the developing world.
The advent calendar will go live at 8am on Sunday 1st December, with a new ‘window’ opening daily at 8am.
