Our MWOTY Story by Moira O’Shaughnessy, Managing Partner at Financial Planning Corporation (FPC)

We were introduced to MWOTY by the Community Foundation for Merseyside in 2018, when we supported the launch of the Women’s Fund for Merseyside. The fund was announced as MWOTY’s chosen charity for 2019 at last year’s event, which was attended by myself and Bernice Blundell, another Partner at FPC.

In advance of the awards we had met MWOTY founders, Jean and Ellie, at the Women’s Fund launch event and realised immediately we had met kindred spirits, so we were keen to get involved.

We were too late to sponsor the awards but lent our support by paying for a table so that nominees could bring a guest. This year will be our first year as a direct sponsor. We are looking forward to being part of the build-up and are delighted to be sponsoring the ‘Women’s Group’ award.

Our work with the Community Foundation across both Merseyside and Lancashire and involvement with the Women’s Fund had evidenced the demand that is out there across the region for more support.

Attending the awards last year was an enlightening and immensely humbling experience that highlighted the value of women supporting each other. MWOTY gives women a voice and a platform for growth and it is essential that this great work continues.

Through our sponsorship we want to raise the profile of the awards within our client base and network of professional partners and in doing so, promote the Women’s Fund too. We also hope to encourage our own team to get more involved going forward.

Life is so busy so it’s not often you get time out to applaud, celebrate and learn about what’s happening on your doorstep. Everyone needs some perspective from time to time and it’s great to be inspired too.”
