MWOTY 2026 Arts, Media and Culture Finalist, Dr Cristina-Steliana Mihailovici shares the story behind her creation “Little Globy” and her vision for a better world.
Cristina said: “I have always believed that engineering is about people, purpose, and protecting our planet. Throughout my career as an engineer, researcher, lecturer, sustainability advocate, and CEO of Tide Kind, my mission has been to inspire innovation that creates a better future for all generations.
“This vision led me to create Little Globy, a character inspired by my daughter, Nicole Noelia Mihailovici. What began as a mother’s dream became a global educational journey, encouraging children to explore science, engineering, geography, kindness, and environmental responsibility.
“Together, we have written educational stories including Little Globy, the Recycling Superhero and The Plastic Ogre, helping young readers discover that every small action—recycling, protecting nature, asking questions, and caring for others—can change the world.
“Little Globy is more than a character; he is a symbol of hope, curiosity, and sustainability, inspiring children to become tomorrow’s engineers, scientists, innovators, and environmental leaders.
“I am deeply honoured that this mission has been recognised through international awards and public recognition, but my greatest achievement remains inspiring children, and all generations, to believe that they can make a difference.
“As shared in my interview with Radio Constanța, my passion for maritime engineering and protecting our oceans naturally evolved into storytelling, making sustainability accessible and exciting for young minds.
