MWOTY 2023 winners, Heather Evans and June Russell, have raised an incredible £6256.35 to support local children through a “Christmas Regifting Sale”.
The annual event, which took place in November, is the single biggest fundraiser for the Halle O’Brien CIC each year, with this year’s sale more than doubling last year’s total of £2,500 raised.
The Halle O’Brien CIC was established by Heather in 2020, in memory of her daughter Halle, who tragically passed away in 2019 at the age of 19, after contracting a rare form of meningitis.
Halle had ambitions to help children learn and develop socially and academically, so after her death Heather and June set up “Halle’s Hub”, to support young, disadvantaged people and keep Halle’s dream alive.
As well as raising money for the CIC the event also aimed to encourage recycling, help local people with the cost of Christmas by offering new and high-quality pre-loved items at affordable prices, and bring the community together as festive preparations began.
The sale included everything from decorations and toiletries, to clothes, toys and games, and festive treats were available from the cafe, with all proceeds supporting the vital work of the organisation.
Heather and June said: “Everything we do, we do with Halle in our hearts and we are so happy with what we have achieved this year, thanks to the hard work of the team and volunteers at the Halle O’Brien CIC and the support of our local community. We’ll be able to help so many children in the new year and continue Halle’s legacy.”
Halles Hub is located on Ford Lane in Litherland and is open Wednesday – Saturday 10am – 4pm. For more information, visit www.halleobriencic.com
