Leanne Campbell revealed as MWOTY 2026 commère

Award-winning broadcaster and actress, Leanne Campbell, has been revealed as commère for the Merseyside Women of the Year (MWOTY) awards 2026.

The prestigious award ceremony, which this year celebrated its 15th birthday, is the longest running on Merseyside and provides a platform for exceptional women from across the region to be seen, heard, and found.

Renowned for shining a spotlight on changemaking women the region who do not seek the limelight, the awards pride themselves on being “a movement not a moment”, supporting winners and finalists to personally grow and expand their work through year-round events, networking, training and mentorship.

Its alumni include a host of high-profile business and charity leaders, multi-award winners, as well as recipients of the British Empire Medal and MBEs.

MWOTY founding director, Ellie Kerr, said: “We are so excited to have Leanne joining the MWOTY movement, as commère for the 2026 awards. Her professional career has been outstanding, not just waking the city up for 20 years on breakfast radio but also working across theatre and TV.

“After celebrating our 15th birthday in 2025, launching our Do Business Better Conference and The Crispy Ear Podcast, next year’s event will see even more growth, more change and more opportunities for the fabulous women in our region.

“We are so happy to have Leanne join us on this journey and welcome her into the whirlwind that is the MWOTY awards.”

A familiar voice and face across stage, screen and airwaves, Leanne has had standout roles in Annie, Twopence to Cross the Mersey, The Sound of Music, and Children’s Ward, is about to film for her second season with the Britain’s Got Talent presenting team and will be playing the Fairy Godmother at the Epstein Theatre this Christmas.

Leanne said: “MWOTY has a long history of championing women from Merseyside and helping them to grow and thrive, and that is a mission I can get firmly behind. The awards not only celebrate its winners and finalists, but it also creates a community that supports one another relentlessly. The Merseyside Women of the Year Awards will return in 2026, on Friday 26th June, with 2026 nominations set to open in January.
