Our MWOTY story by Kemmel Healey, People Director at Everton Football Club

We’re really excited to support MWOTY for the first time this year. I initially heard about the awards from my hairdresser, Cheryl Parry from Electric Hair, who has been involved for a few years and told me how great the event is.

The unsung heroines in our community are what makes Merseyside a great place to live, work and visit and I am a strong believer that we should celebrate and be proud of that. To me this is exactly what MWOTY does.

There are also no other awards of this kind where anyone can nominate and be nominated. MWOTY gives all women a voice and an appreciation for everything they do, no matter what their background.

As a Premier League club, we are in a privileged position to be able to raise awareness about positive equality and it is high on the Premier League’s agenda. Football is a fantastic tool to be able to do that as it is so close to people’s hearts.

Every day I see the incredible achievements of women in our community who are making a difference to others and changing lives; many of whom do this tirelessly without looking for anything in return.

We decided to sponsor MWOTY to help give these women the recognition they deserve. We wanted to help celebrate their fantastic contribution and the achievements they make in all different areas both professionally and personally.

At Everton we pride ourselves on being inclusive – an Everton Family for Everyone. We are on a mission to drive equality through the positive power of football. By sponsoring MWOTY and helping to celebrate Merseyside’s amazing women, we are one step further in achieving our mission.

From what I have heard, we’re in for a very special evening at the ceremony in June. I’m expecting to feel empowered and overwhelmed and I’m really looking forward to being part of it.
