On International Women’s Day 2019 the team at MWOTY were delighted to be revealed as a partner to Culture Liverpool’s RISE: A season of extraordinary female artists, thinkers & leaders.
At a glittering launch event packed to the rafters with fabulous, inspirational women including award-winning Technologist and pioneer in system change, Marime Jamme, and Claire Dove OBE, we heard all about the full arts and cultural programme, featuring brand new artistic commissions, world-firsts, exhibitions and performances by leading female artists, thinkers and leaders, with the majority of activities being free to attend.
In the year which sees the city host the Netball World Cup, the RISE programme will pay homage to extraordinary women from Liverpool and from around the world with the aim to inspire, educate and empower others, regardless of their age or gender.
That’s a mission we can get behind, because it is what MWOTY has always been about. Like the Merseyside Women of the Year Awards, RISE provides a platform for women from all walks of life.
You can celebrate the amazing, inspirational and unsung heroines in your life by nominating them for the MWOTY awards here or sharing details of female-focused events and activities with RISE here.
So what are you waiting for – won’t you #RISEwithUS?
RISE has been curated by Liverpool City Council and funded by Arts Council England. Other partners include University of Liverpool, The Women’s Organisation, Blackburne House, Northern Power Women, The Girls Network and the Mayoral Club.
