Our MWOTY story by Rhiannon Carss, Head of Communications at Curtins

“We first found out about MWOTY when my colleague, Paula Gainer got talking to one of the event organisers, Jean, at a local event. Jean’s passion for the awards was immediately apparent, so we decided to find out more.

I had a meeting with both Ellie and Jean and it didn’t take long for me to be convinced that this was a platform for celebration and reward that Curtins could get behind. This year will be our first as a sponsor.

Our company values align perfectly with what the team behind MWOTY have set out to achieve, shining a light on exceptional people doing exceptional things, whether in the public eye with a high profile or not.

Celebrating the everyday heroines of our great region is such an important mission. Whether they realise it or not, these individuals are enriching people’s lives and that should be recognised. It is becoming clear that MWOTY is a community – where people celebrate and support each other and we are delighted to have now joined that community.

Being involved in the MWOTY community has already given us the chance to meet people from different walks of life and to hear and celebrate their incredible stories.

Through our sponsorship we want to learn more about local initiatives and how we can work with people in our community to support the great things they are doing.”
